Rumour: Another Member Of The X-Men Has Filmed A Scene For The Wolverine

I’m not too sure about this report at all, so let’s just label it clearly as a rumour. What follows below the warning could end up being a spoiler, however, so do proceed at your own risk.

The source of this claim is a blog called We Got This Covered, apparently part of the Complex Media network though I’m not sure what that is. They cite no sources, and they don’t have a proven record but I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt, for now.

So what is it that they’re actually reporting? Here’s how they put it:

Famke Janssen to cameo as Jean Grey in The Wolverine… we’ve learnt that Famke Janssen flew into Sydney last week to shoot a cameo for the film.

Last week? Okay, perhaps. Her film Bringing Up Bobby is currently rolling out across the US, and she seems to have been doing some bits and pieces of press, but not so much that would stop her shooting down to Oz. Just a couple of weeks back I flew down there, watched PJ Hogan’s Mental, hung out a bit, and flew back all within a handful of days. It can be done.

But was it done?

Maybe a friend of We Got This Covered caught a flight with Janssen. Maybe they just thought they did. Maybe they’ve got a friend who works for an airline, or lives in Sydney and hangs out in the better restaurants.

Bleeding Cool are pretty sure* that Janssen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and Hugh Jackman are on the shopping list for X-Men: Days of Future Past, but not that any of them have or haven’t signed up just yet. We suppose they’d probably even court Halle Berry. Whether or not any of Wolverine’s X-chums will roll up in his next solo movie is less clear to us – the plan, as far as we’re aware, is to make a very, very standalone picture.

Just going by the feel of it, I’d say it’s a little off that they’d call in Janssen for The Wolverine. Maybe for a very small cameo, even more likely at the tail end of the film or even after the credits.

Time will tell. The Wolverine is set for release in July of next year.

*Incredibly completely totally sure.
