Airdate, First Footage From Munsters Reboot – And Some Bad News Too

To my disappointment, NBC have decided not to expand their pilot for the Munsters do-over Mockingbird Lane into a full series and will instead play the single existing episode as a Halloween special on October 26th.

In order to promote the screening, they’ve cut and released this promo.

The show was written by Bryan Fuller and directed by Bryan Singer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Bryans ended up squabbling over the look of the show.

Singer and NBC apparently wanted something more “grounded” while Fuller preferred for something stylised in a poppy Pushing Daisies-fashion. Looking at the footage, it’s arguable that Fuller won – and as a result, may have killed his show stone dead.

But I do understand that, despite and disagreements, the show is actually pretty darn good. We’ll see for ourself in just under two weeks, I guess.

While I’m not stupid enough to expect a U-turn and surprise pick-up if big numbers tune, I’m also not stupid enough to discourage the interested from trying.
