Thursday Runaround – Time And Motion Study

TimeAndMotionWatch: Cullen Bunn looks at the nitty and gritty of making a comic book in a timely fashion.

"Here's how I do it. I use a cooking timer to keep myself on track. You can find software and apps to facilitate this method (Google "The Pomodoro Technique") but I think a simple plastic timer and a cheap notebook work well. I divide my day up into thirty- five-minute segments. I call these segments "mods" thanks to a funny bit on The Office. The number of mods you complete in a day is completely up to you. I have a goal of completing 10–12 mods a day. Then, armed with a simple list of the different projects I need to complete, I attack the day. At the beginning of each mod, I pick a project, set the timer, and go to work. While the timer is running, I focus solely  on that project. I don't check e-mail. I don't tweet. I don't noodle with other projects. That's 35 minutes solid that I focus on one project. At the end  of the mod, I track my progress in a notebook."

In keeping with the colour scheme and spooky face motif I approached this one with the intent to echo imagery seen in the first issue. It's nice to have covers actually relate to the interiors once in a while.

'Midnight, Mass.' — NBC Developing Drama Series Adaptation Of Comic

NBC has put in development Midnight, Mass., a drama series based on characters from the Vertigo comic books and graphic novels published by DC Entertainment. Snow White And The Huntsman co-writer Evan Daugherty will write the adaptation, produced by Warner Bros. TV and Bill Gerber's Gerber Pictures, which has received a script commitment.

It's been officially announced, so now I can tell you as well. NBC has bought the rights to my comic book series, Midnight, Mass. which was published as two mini-series through DC's Vertigo line. This is the third time that this has happened and hopefully this time will be the charm that sees this come to fruition. I'm a bit more hopeful this time with the talent involved.

Cliff Chiang's 'New 52' rendition of Wonder Woman • Brooklyn Daily

"It's not a standard origin story where we show how she left Paradise Island, but it is about her character and a specific moment of how she grows into a hero," Chiang said. "The '0' issue deals with Wonder Woman's childhood. We hint at it not being as rosy as one might think. She's a princess in a culture that prizes skill and achievement, so she's always had to prove herself worthy of the title."
