The Avengers Back In US Cinemas This Weekend… With Something Extra?

Contrary to blind and naive speculation earlier in the year, there’s no ‘extended director’s cut’ of The Avengers headed into cinemas for the Labor Day Weekend. Instead, there’s the theatrical cut.

But… could there be a little surprise at the end?

Marvel’s Facebook page tell us:

Don’t forget to stay through the credits…

Because there’s something new? Or just because there’s two little fun scenes already in there?

I would like to think it’s the former. Nobody in their right mind would court the kind of fan anger that would come from empty teases, would they? Are Marvel’s Facebook PR people really so naive?

Well, very, very possibly. Look at how they’re using the Thanos image as the marketing graphic. Hmmm.

Is it simply the Thanos tease they’re talking about here?

I guess we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

If there is something new, I’m expecting an Iron Man 3 teaser. And if there is an Iron Man 3 teaser, I’m expecting it to turn up online, officially, pretty quickly too.

I doubt it would be as comprehensive or expansive as the clips played out at Comic-Con, but a lot more filming has happened in the meantime – and more FX work, and editing, and grading, and so on.

Nice prospect.
