Hugh Laurie Set To Play Robocop’s Cold, Sarcastic Bad Guy

Hugh Laurie is the latest to join Jose Padilha’s Robocop, playing the cold and sarcastic “bad guy” CEO of OmniCorp.

Or at least that’s how Variety put it. We know very well indeed that Laurie can do cold and sarcastic. I suppose he never quite did a villainous version of cold and sarcastic on House, but regularly came within touching distance.

In the original, the equivalent character was Dick Jones, played by Ronny Cox*. There was another chief villain last time around, cop killer Clarence J. Boddicker, but we still don’t know if there’s an equivalent role in this do-over.

This film really is picking up a splendid cast. Laurie is in negotiations for the role right now, which should translate very quickly into him being locked in place.

*I’m tired and I want to go to bed.
