MTV Planning A Scream TV Series

I loved Scream, I liked Scream 2, I watched Scream 3 and I was kind of swoony for Scream 4 too. I was hoping for a Scream 5, when the time is right, and I thought it would be great if Wes Craven would direct and, despite the various problems he’s faced, time and again, that Kevin Williamson would write the screenplay.

Well, tough luck me, because that’s looking a touch less likely this morning. As it happens, DiGa productions are working on a new Scream TV series for MTV, no doubt buoyed on by the relative success of Teen Wolf. By which I most definitely don’t mean creative, artistic success. Judging from Teen Wolf, MTV would be more suited to a Stab TV series than a Scream one.

According to TV Line, DiGa are looking for somebody to write their Scream pilot. When we find out who they hire, perhaps we’ll have a better idea of how this is going to turn out.

Hopefully they program makers will remain committed to the scares even though MTV isn’t a great venue for the kind of slice-and-dice that the films traded in.
