38 Studios In Trouble

Originally Green Monster Games, 38 Studios is a game company in trouble. But it may bring down a lot more than just itself.

Founded by Curt Schilling, his games company received a $75 million loan guarantee from Rhode Island if Schilling would move his company from Massachusetts in 2010.

This month, the company missed a million point one dollar repayment to the Rhode Island Economic Development Corp.

They then send a cheque to cover the full amount. The cheque bounced.

And now the company can't pay their employees this month. If the company goes down, Rhode Island will be out, with interest, over $110 million.

And the reason this is rather relevant? Todd McFarlane is Executive Art Director of the company. Of course, if they can't pay him, who knows?
