Micro-Distributor Signs Up To Macro-Distributor

Micro-Distributor Signs Up To Macro-DistributorBleeding Cool has been reporting this past few months on the rise of high profile micro-distribution of comics across the US, focusing on certain stores more likely to sell their content. Specifically the work of Sam Humphries with Our Love Is Real and Sacrifice, and ComixTribe with their books Scam and Red Ten.

Well it couldn't last for ever. Just as Image snapped up Our Love Is Real, so ComixTribe will now sell their comics through Diamond Comic Distributors, creating availability for the approximately 1750 comic stores that don't currently order their books.

One thing this approach has done, is make Diamond value ComixTribe in a way they may not any new comic publisher. Diamond has had to court them, which puts ComixTribe is a relatively favourable position.

The comics will be put on hold while Diamond are given the chance to catch up, with Scam coming out through them in August and Red Ten in October, both series going bi-monthly from then on.
ComixTribe aren't abandoning micro-distribution and may well run it alongside Diamond for new comics, such as the upcoming books The Standard , previously a digital comic by John Lees and Jonathan Rector and Oxymoron #1 by Jason Ciaramella later this year.
