C2E2: Avengers Vs X-Men – The True Origin

C2E2: Avengers Vs X-Men – The True OriginCharles Stolz writes for Bleeding Cool from C2E2.

Panelists – Jason Aaron, Rick Remender, C.B Cebulski, Arune Singh, Axel Alonso, Joe Quesada, a guy dressed up like Wolverine and a guy dressed up as Iron Spider.

The Room was PACKED. PACKED.

The panel started out with Arune asking who supported what side, with more fans seeming to side with the X-Men.

Jason Aaron talked about the excitement of planning this event, and Alonso talking about the importance of the event, talking about the creative team of Bendis, Fraction, Aaron, Hickman and Brubaker. Season 4 of 24 was brought up, and talking about the importance of big moments following up big moments

The cover for issue seven was shown showing the Avengers under attack from… some red energy, with Act 2 to go to "Unexpected Places". I could not find that on my map.

AvX Vs. was touted as "Comic Book Porn" and the importance of the mini-series to plug the gaps in the bi-weekly schedule. "Wall to wall fighting…  0% Story, 100 % Action"

Rick Remender talked next about the Secret Avengers tie in, and the importance of Mar-Vell, the Kree to the event (his tie in arc starts in July)

They started talking about the X-Men tie-ins next, with Aaron talking about the divisions within Wolverine and the X-Men and how just because Wolverine goes one way, the rest of the school will not follow suit.

Marvel ReEvolution and Marvel Infinite was up next, the recently announced Digital Comics initiative from Marvel, talking about the Waid/Immonen Nova Story as the first comic made exclusively for the iPad.

Quesada talked about the importance of Digital Comics as "Within two years almost everyone will be creating or reading comics of a tablet/iPad"

(At this point Frank Cho joined the panel)

There are three ways to get the Marvel Infinite Comics – Print version of AvX comes with a code, bought digitally or bought for 99c. And AvX Vs. Number Three will have something new for the AR App.

Cho was then asked about his expierience on AvX0 saying that it was fun to work on the prologue… but not much else. We then saw the "True Origin of AvX", some YouTube video acted out with action figures. Kinda funny, exceptionally juvenile, and not nearly as entertaining the second time around. Then the panel was opened up for questions.

To Alonso, asked about Dr. Strange and plans coming up – "He will have a role in AvX"

A question for the panel of using AvX to get new readers in, and the answer was absolutely, using it as a good tool to people involved, especially people coming in from The Avengers film

Joe Quesada – "The Avengers movie is everything a Marvel and movie fan could want"

Tragically, it seems if you don't have the right smartphone or tablet, you will be missing out on the AR App.

The panel are "Big fans of Cable" but stopped short of giving outright spoilers, which was what most people were essentially asking for, or questions about the ins and outs of the Apps.

Variant Covers will NOT be making it to the Digital realm, as they are viewed as a retailer incentive

Thor will be making a big appearance in Secret Avengers, Remender stating he was a "Big fan"
