Humberto Ramos and Francisco Herrera, I am told, have an internet show called The Foreigners and I’ve missed the latest episode by an hour or so.
But, luckily, some Little Bleeders were watching, and one such friend of the site, Alex Cruz, dropped me a message to tell me what I was missing.
Right now on his internet TV program Los Forasteros (The Foreigners) Humberto Ramos and friends have announced that they are working for Disney on a secret project called Disney Shorts that opens this summer.
The subject line of the e-mail specifically mentioned Francisco Herrera too. Both Ramos and Herrera are comic book artists with strong ties to Marvel, though neither are exclusive (Rich tells me).
Amongst the followers of the Disney Shorts Twitter account are Ramos and Herrera, and it’s possible that some of the others will be more folk working on the project.
The site yielded this teaser image.
I haven’t been able to validate the authenticity of the site and accounts officially as yet, but a Who Is lookup on the site shows a registrant called Jose Leonardo Olea Hernandez. Not a name I recognise… but one Leonardo Olea, comic book colorist, is clearly working on something called Disney Shorts.
Here’s an image of him in what appears to be their office, wearing what appears to be their official cap from his Twitter feed.
It’s looking pretty much on the up-and-up to me.
But what is it? The name seems to suggest that we’re looking at short films. It’s interesting that comic book artists are being called in to work on the project. I speculate that there’s some re-imagining and redesigning at work for some toons.
Or it might be a new run of Disney comics, realising short subjects in that medium. Seems a lot less likely.
Exciting stuff, and seemingly completely distinct from the possible Disney/Marvel movie. I’m going to keep digging. More on this as it comes.
