Vaughn Bode, Ralph Bakshi And Wizards

The Wizards animated movie from the seventies by Ralph Bakshi has ofted been cited as being heavily influenced by artist and graffiti icon Vaughan Bode. To a rather significant degree. And every time Wizards is mentioned, it’s not long until a Bode-ite pops up to point out the similarities. Such as Cheech Wizard, Cobalt 9o and more.

But recently, with news of the Wizards 2 movie slowly movin to completion, Mark Bode, Vaughn’s son, posted;

The day i never thought i would live to see , Ralph Bakshi called and apoligized for being so heavily influenced by my father on Wizards !!! And he is sending some stuff of my dads he has back to me after 40 years! I told him to throw some signed Wizards cels in with the package and he is said no problem Mark ill get right on it.. Well there ya go the the man has come clean!!

Apparently so…
