They were all victims of the ‘Bling Ring’ a group of teenagers in Calabasas, California, who went a-robbing the homes of celebrities and had gathered a haul worth about $3 million by the time they were caught.
Now it looks as though Emma Watson will be shedding her teacher’s pet image, as according to Variety she has just been cast in Sofia Coppola‘s dramatisation of the burglaries, also called The Bling Ring. Coppola will be writing and directing the feature, as well as co-producing with her brother Roman Coppola.
The story was adapted as a Lifetime TV movie with the same name last year, so Coppola has a lot to live up to in this retelling. It remains to be seen whether any of the burglary victims are planning to make an appearance on the cast list.
