First Good Set Pic From M. Night Shyamalan’s After Earth

There have been a good handful of not-so-hot twitpics from the set of M. Night Shyamalan‘s sci-fi picture After Earth, showing everything from Will Smith standing around to Will Smith and Jaden Smith standing around, sometimes with trees.

It’s not just the absence of Will that makes this latest example the best yet: it’s the costume.

This is our first look at something designed for the film – some kind of set, or prop, or (as it happens) costume, created specifically to tell this story. It’s not a lot to go on, but it’s something. What might these textures mean? Or those little nobbly bumpy bits?

What do you mean “Nothing”? Cynic.

Incidentally, young Smith “hashtagged” this image with #afterearthswag, which suggests the slang term swag is still ongoing. Shame.

After Earth has had a recent rewrite by Traffic‘s Stephen Gaghan, Shyamalan did a pass or two himself and Book of Eli man Gary Whitta started the whole thing off in the first place. By now they must have something pretty fit for fighting, right?

Hat tip to Shadow and Act who spotted this before my daily catch up session on the tweets of the Smith family.
