Thursday Runaround – Losing Hope But Gaining A Heart

CancellationWatch: Marvel confirms the end of Generation Hope in March.

"Kenji finally makes a stand against Hope, but he won't be doing it alone," Asmus teases as to what unfolds in the final two installments of the series beginning with issue #16 on February 15. "On top of that, I tried to confront and forward as much as I could—the love triangle between Martha, Kenji and Laurie; Hope's decisions to control her team; Hope's ultimate decision about Sebastian Shaw; Gabriel and Pixie's romantic turmoil and more!

"All the characters on Utopia that the team has been interacting with are pulled into the last two issues and I tried to create a claustrophobic, paranoid horror story for issue #16 that boils over into an all-out wrap for the series. It's certainly not timid."

OperationWatch: How a heart transplant inspired a digital graphic novel.

Mr Tottle said his book told the story of the mysterious Patient 56, who, trapped in the sinister New York Hospital for Mind Care, is helped by nurse Hope Thompson who believes he could be a long-lost astronaut.

He said: "Space Cadet 56 Book 1 is fiction, though it does draw on my personal experience."

PressWatch: A call for continuity… or rather, less of it.

Comic books unfortunately have a very limited reader base. But with the popularity of superhero movies, blockbusters and a resurgence of the horror genre, comics are more sought after than ever. And with the digital world making them easily available, there needs to be more effort from the companies to clearly offer opportunities for new readers to jump on. This doesn't have to come at the expense of continuity or story; comics just need to stop being so insular.

BusinessWatch: How comics could save business journalism.

But Journalism as an industry is in a state of crisis. It has been for a good 3-4 years, and we have new leadership here in Forbes under Lewis D'vorkin who's been spearheading our New NewsRoom Initiativeand he actually does a blog post on that at the beginning of every week about what we're doing to stay true to being innovative and progressive in how we convey business news. We're basically making sure that we're using all the tools at our disposal to deliver quality news. We've taken on a contributor model, so we're able to bring in other experts into our content.
