Ron Paul Ditches The Wookie, Has Darth Vader’s Imperial March For A Theme

Mitt Romney won the Hampshire primary last night, but pulling second place was cause for celebration in the Ron Paul camp. The Republican candidate and Bruno co-star came out to give a kind of victory speech, and was greeted with rapturous applause and hungry, excited cheers. ABC have the video.

But what they don’t have is the warm up, when the DJs set the scene by playing The Imperial March from Star Wars. You know it – the music cue from Star Wars that says here comes evil incarnate.

According to The Telegraph (via Movieline) this elicited the biggest pre-Paul cheers of the whole shebang.

That’s right: Ron Paul’s supporters cheered when he was set-up by stirring association with Darth Vader.

So how are they going to top this at the next one of Ron Paul’s rallies? Maybe they can pick up a few tricks from the Nuremberg Rally red books – they’re stuffed with ideas on how to make this kind of love-in really go with a swing and get the blood pumping.

In case you never new, one of Paul’s biggest supporters in the past has been a Wookie. Here he is.

And where was he at the Vader party last night? It was even in New Hampshire, his part of the world.

I never knew Star Wars was so politically ambiguous.
