James Bond Spoiler-Rumour Raises Its Head Again – It’s Probably Time To Believe It

The following probably constitutes a spoiler for the upcoming Skyfall, 23rd adventure of James Bond 007. Don’t go any further if you don’t want to have your nose rubbed in it.

Here’s a chronology of the rumour:

In July of this year, we knew that Naomie Harris would be taking a role in Bond 23, but not which one. Then we heard that she’d be playing Moneypenny

An official press conference at the start of production saw Sam Mendes claim that Harris was playing “a field operative” called Eve. It seemed like the Moneypenny rumour had been… erm… spent.

But then, a few days later, Perez Hilton – of all people – said that it was “100% confirmed” Harris would be playing Moneypenny.

And now The Daily Mail has made a headline out of it:

A New Age healer mother, an obsession with raw food and why Naomi Harris will be… A very modern Miss Moneypenny

They got her name wrong, it seems, but I’ve done it too, so…

Of Harris’ role, they say:

She starts as a field operative called Eve and then comes inside the organisation as Miss Money-penny, M’s right-hand woman.

Which is her real name? Neither?

I don’t know what it tells us that there’s a field operative in this story who then becomes a secretary, but it might be of some consequence and interest as the pieces starting coming together. And I’m sure it has some dramatic importance in the narrative. It’s certainly interesting to see them giving the character a backstory, of this or any other kind.

So, I’m now considering this case closed. She’s Moneypenny.

Here’s an onset snap of Harris and Daniel Craig, meeting on a rooftop to exchange what looks like a CD storage box. This also comes from The Daily Mail.

I’d judge that she’s in Moneypenny mode here. Call it a hunch… or just prejudice, perhaps.
