UPDATE: IDW Moves To ComiXology, Goes Day-And-Date Digital – Along With Half The Market

UPDATE: IDW have announced that their digital comics available through a variety of Apps, IDW Cmics, Transformers, Star Trek, Doctor Who, GI Joe, 30 Days Of Night, Templesmith and True Blood, previously running on iVerse / Comics+ systems are being moved over to run from ComiXology's operating system. Their comics will be accessible on on Apple, Android, Kindle, web, and a new digital comics store at read.idwpublishing.com, with all devices and systems synching together, allowing you to read your purchases on any of them.

It's a strange move… IDW were a digital comics pioneer and prided themselves on their own software and systems. However with new devices and formats proliferating, it looks like it was time to go to someone doing the same trick for other publishers. And ComiXology are rapidly becoming the Digital Diamond.

As a result of this move, ComiXology now offer over half the week's new comic books as day-and-date. IDW has confirmed the day-date full price digital plan, as mentioned this morning, in the original article.

Original Story: Later today, IDW will announce that they are going day-and-date digital with most of their comics line, but at full retail price for the whole line. And as far as I'm aware, there's no plan to discount them shortly after publication.

IDW, a pioneer in the digital comics field, seems to be making the point that the comics are worth a certain price, given the time and effort put into them, and without competing on price with the print retail outlets.

Let's find out more when we get the press release later.
