When DC Clicked CC Instead Of BCC

When DC Clicked CC Instead Of BCCI wrote yesterday how I managed to nab a Dynamite scoop simply by being accidentally cc'ed into a email conversation that I simply shouldn't have been. CC and BCC can be tricky things and I have fallen foul of them myself very occasionally.

Well, the other day it was DC Comics' turn. And for the freelancers who receoived the following e-mail from a staffer whose name we have chosen to keep hidden for reasons of irony.

URGENT! DC Comics – Talent Relations and Services – Address Update

Hi Everyone,

As you may have noticed, an email letter requesting updated contact information was sent to many of our freelancers earlier this afternoon.  In this letter your email address and those of the other recipients were erroneously put in the cc field rather than the bcc field.  Consequently information was made visible to all people receiving the e-mail.  That was not our intent.  There's no excuse for the mistake and we apologize for it.

Please, please note, if you respond to the original e-mail (especially if you are providing updated contact information), PLEASE DO NOT HIT "REPLY ALL."  Let's minimize the sharing of info to what's already occurred.

Again, we're sorry for this error and for any inconvenience that may come of it.  Please send any questions or concerns you may have regarding this error directly to me.

Too late for some, who did indeed hit Reply All and sent their contact details to fellow DC creators that, well, let's say they make a point of avoiding at comic conventions…
