About That New Avengers Footage From NYCC – A Full Scene And A Fighty, Funny Montage

The following comes to you via the miracle of a whispering Chinese telephone, passing information from Bleeding Cool bothans embedded at NYCC to my laptop, through my eyes, back out through my fingers, into the laptop again and sent, like Mike TV, into your homes, phones, offices and porno dungeons – anywhere, in short, that you have a computer and an appetite for The Avengers.

So please excuse me if it all seems a little disjointed.

Joss Whedon was not at NYCC for today’s Avengers movie panel, unfortunately, but had cut a new trailer which was premiered for the crowd. Is this the one we’re hearing will be on the Captain America Blu-ray?

Here’s our Bleeder-sourced description, as best I could put it together.

The footage starts in… India. Surprising. This is where Doctor Banner has been, helping the sick. He’s gone two years without Hulking out.

A little girl comes running to him to get help. Somebody is sick. He follows her…

But it’s a trick. Black Widow is waiting. Bruce asks “How did you find me?” She says “We never lost you” and explains that Nick Fury has known exactly where he is, all along, but that they haven’t needed him until now.

But now they really need him. They’re trying to trace the gamma signature of the Tesseract, and he can help with this.

Will Bruce come quietly? Or is everything about to get smashed up? Well… it looks close, for a moment, but Banner chills and cedes to Ms. Romanoff’s request.

She gives the order to stand down… to a whole flock of SHIELD agents who were, until now, unseen. The heavily-armed Hulk contingency plan.

And then – bam – a montage. Fighting. Lots of fighting. The “I have an army”, “We have a Hulk” exchange from the D23 footage. Stark Tower. The Helicarrier. Fighting. Some more fighting.

At the end, Stark is shown teasing Banner about his anger management. Not amused, and worried that everything is about to get a lot more green, Cap asks Tony Stark “Is everything a joke a to you?”

Back comes a zing-ish, “Funny things are.”

And… when can the rest of us see this? Now, please?

Thanks to the NYCC team for their continued efforts.
