Live From The Attack The Block Panel

The US trailer has played, and we’re now into a clip. Edgar Wright and John Boyega are charming the pants of the crowd, but this is Joe’s show, and so it should be. Cornish has made a remarkable film and I think Hall H must be in the process of falling in love with it.

The clip comes from later in the film, starting with Brewis meeting a bloody Hi-Hatz in the lift and moving on through the subsequent race to Ron’s weed room. Interesting that they’ve selected such a tense scene which, despite the inclusion of a couple of big laughs, isn’t quite as funny as a lot of the film.

Good call, maybe, as the tension translates perfectly and there’s bound to be a little something lost in the humour – just a little.

Discussing his aliens, Cornish has stressed that they were practical, and on set with the actors, but that the process of realising them in the manner seen in the finished footage needed rotoscoping.
