The X-Men Get Into Social Media, And If You Join Them, You Could Win A Screening

The X-Men are using Facebook and Twitter.

I’m not sure what the upshot of their twittering will be about, but there’s only one way to find out – take part. It seems that supporters of Charles Xavier are tweeting “Killing will not bring you peace #CharlesXavier” , while those who favour the more militant approach of Erik Lensherr are using “Peace was never an option #ErikLehnsherr”.

Will we unlock something by using these? Will we get tweeted back by the CIA’s mutant investigation division before getting whisked away for a particularly nasty bout of extraordinary rendition? Or are we just taking sides in some kind of vote?

The outcome of their Facebook campaign is more obvious. They’ve built an app that shows all of the Odeon cinemas in the UK as – what else – X markers on a map. You can click on an X to select the cinema where you want a free screening of the film to take place, and the site with the most votes gets the film.

Organise a few of your local friends and family and you could be making it a whole lot cheaper for yourself to see X-Men: First Class next week. I could cheat and have all of the students at my school click, but I think I’d be rumbled.
