Grant Morrison To Write Dominion: Dinosaurs Versus Aliens, Barry Sonnenfeld To Direct

This summer, the Aliens are just “and” the Cowboys. When Grant Morrison and Barry Sonnenfeld are ready to unleash their genre-blender mash-up, however, the Aliens will most definitely be “versus” the Dinosaurs.

Dominion: Dinosaurs Versus Aliens is set to premiere as a “graphic novel” from Liquid Comics later this year, also written by Morrison and illustrated by Mukesh Singh. The story line will apparently recount a prehistoric battle between Earth’s thunder lizards and an invasion of extra terrestrials. So can we assume that this film won’t even have any dialogue in it? That it’s just going to be flat-out visual storytelling and/or dinosaurs and aliens getting down to it in a series of massive set pieces?

Crikey. Could this ever possibly get a green light? I do hope so. I hope this isn’t just more vapourfilm from Liquid.

The only film script I’ve ever read by Mr. Morrison was an adaptation of his own comic series We3. To this day that’s still the greatest unproduced screenplay to ever land on my desktop. If there’s any justice in the world, we’ll be seeing that in cinemas one day too.

Deadline don’t have anything from Morrison in their piece on the project, but they do quote Sonnefeld:

Growing up, my fascination was all things dinosaur, and as an adult, I’ve had some success making films about aliens, so this is a dream come true.

Pfft.

The following image seems to be an official bit of development artwork, either from the comic or the film or both. Can anybody identify the artist responsible? Is it Mukesh Singh?
