Greta Gerwig is the female romantic lead in Arthur. I sat down with her this week, for an astonishingly brief period of time, to talk about the film, and how it fits into her catalogue of work.
Arthur is out today in the UK, and has been playing in the US for a couple of weeks. I definitely prefer it to the original. Russell Brand might not convey all necessary emotional dimensions for the film’s desired poignancy to land properly, but he makes a pretty good fist out of some funny scenes, and most of the supporting cast do rather well.
Gerwig will, I’m sure, win over even more fans with her performance in the picture. She’s on the up, and fast.
