Sentinel Prime, Standing Tall

Here’s a good look at Sentinel Prime, Optimus Prime’s older and better. In Monsieur Michael Bay‘s upcoming Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Big Prime’s voice will be provided by Leonard Nimoy.

Looking at the detail of the rendering, I can’t help but think of all of the talented CG modelers, texture artists, lighting technicians et al, all of them slaving away to make each of these robots look solid and heavy and metallic.

And then they have to make them act, and emote, even when the script isn’t exactly rich in character depth.

And then these artists’ names get lost in a seven minute scroll that plays as pretty much everyone stands up and makes a break for the exit, getting in the way of the few of us checking out the credits in full.

Tough break.

I feel like maybe I should send over a fruit basket.
