The Title Of Neil Gaiman’s Doctor Who Episode Is Pure Geek Bait

Scheduled to air in the fourth slot of the new series of Doctor Who, the Neil Gaiman-penned episode of my new favourite TV drama has been a little while coming. I think we first knew such a thing was going to exist about three or four years ago.

I’m sure it will have been worth the wait.

Gaiman and showrunner Steven Moffat have been pretty careful about not revealing the episode’s title, saying it is “spoilery” but it was only a matter of time before it was revealed. Today, SFX have just come out and – with no context, or explanation – published the title on their site.

Look away now if you don’t want to be spoiled. Keep looking if you understand that there’s no way a title could be a dangerous spoiler because they’d just go ahead and change it. Here’s the title now:

The Doctor’s Wife.

Yeah, right. My first question about this, of course, is “Which doctor?”

The episode will feature Suranne Jones as a a guest star, a character called Idris who, Gaiman has teased, is somebody The Doctor used to know, but now has a different face.
