Wolverine Goes From Red All Over, To Black And Blue

Wolverine: The Best There Is comes with parental advisory stickers. And too right, it features Juan Jose Ryp, artist for Warren Ellis' disgustorama from Avatar, No Hero. Here are a couple pages from the first two issues to give you a taster.

And then issue three kicked it up a notch.

But the fourth issue out this week… had a bit of a difference. Just see.

Blood still everywhere… but of a different hue. Back in the day, the Comics Code made Marvel change red blood to black, for matters of taste. There is no Comics Code anymore. Marvel's own equivalent shouldn't have come into play on this, given the parental warnings. This looks like it was an actual acknowledgement of concerns from editorial about just too much blood… and colourist Andres Mossa seems to have been reined in.

And spurted black and blue blood everywhere.
