Savage Dragon Goes Day-And-Date Digital, $3.99 Now, $1.99 LaterThis is an interesting solution. Savage Dragon, by Erik Larsen, one of the longest running comic books on the stands, costs $3.50.

But when it went day-and-date digital last week, they discovered that Apple abhors a 50 cent piece, and only allows a 99c piece. So the book would have to be $1.99, $2.99 or $3.99

Erik Larsen decided that $2.99 or lower would be a  bit of a slap in the face for retailers when the print version out the same day would cost more. But realised that $3.99 would be more than the printed version, and may be off putting.

So he's found an interesting compromise. Savage Dragon will launch digitally on the same day it is published for $3.99. And then when the next issue is out, the previous issue will drop to $1.99.

So immediacy is premium priced. And for those who can wait, they get to pay half.

A rather Sensible Dragon it seems.
