Now It's Time For The Brazilian Batman Potty Mouth

Now It's Time For The Brazilian Batman Potty MouthWe're all aware of the infamous Batman Pottymouth incident that got worldwide coverage, mocked on late night talk shows and cost editor Bob Schreck his job.

Well a scene reminiscent of that has been playing out in Brazil this month, courtesy of publisher Panini.

A Batman reprint comic is burning through the Grant Morrison issues of Batman And Robin, a recently ran the recent British trip. In which a character uses the word "petralha" as an translation of the English word "nasty".

This is a specific word that combined the name of the party currently in government, PT (Partido dos Trabalhadores), with the word "metralha" – which literally means shrapnel, but is closer to waste or unwanted product, and is also the portuguese name of Uncle Scrooge bad guys The Beagle Brothers.

So, it's basically a political insult.

Which is all the Brazilian political blogs and message boards needed to kick off.

The publisher saying it was used in a non-political context and no harm was meant, let alone any kind of political statement. But with this kind of rhetoric, no one seems to be buying it.

Let's hope Batman Inc doesn't make any similar faux pas as it cross-crosses the globe…
