First Footage From Arthur With Russell Brand And Helen Mirren

There’s no trailer yet, but our first look at Arthur, the Russell Brand-starring remake of the offensive “drunks are funny” comedy of the early 80s, cropped up on TV the other night.

Shortly after I turned my TV off.

Luckily, the moment was preserved for posterity by YouTube user GlorifiedJester1.

In the following clip, you can see Russell Brand given the Outstanding Contribution to Comedy award at this year’s British Comedy Awards. The Arthur clip kicks off around about 3:35, and actually features Helen Mirren more than it does Brand. As you’ll see, she has the John Gielgud role.

And… does the clip of Robert Downey Jr. paying tribute lend credence to the stories that Brand will be turning up in Sherlock Holmes 2? Maybe.
