Vernon Kay Says He’s Going To Work With Spielberg On A Very Odd-Sounding Film
There’s every chance you won’t know who Vernon Kay is. In the UK, he’s the host of All Star Family Forunes, in the US, he’s the host of Skating with the Stars. He’s a Bolton boy with quite a bit of housewife-tempting appeal. He’s not the sort of chap you’d immediately expect to be high on Steven Spielberg’s list of wanted and desired collaborators. Nonetheless, here’s something Kay tweeted this afternoon:
Wow..Gonna be working with Stephen Spielberg on a new film about the NorthWest’s impact on the cotton spinning industry! Today is a good day!
Spelling mistake aside, he does seem to be saying he’s got a project with Spielberg in the offing. And what a project!
The northwest he’s referring to is not the pacific northwest, but England’s northwest. As in Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, and Cheshire.
Now, maybe Spielberg caught wind of a great, regional British story while he was over her filming War Horse; maybe he’s picked up a script that tells a rip-roaring drama of the cotton industry; or maybe Vernon Kay is talking out of his hat.
I may live to regret this, but I’d be inclined to believe there’s something to the tweet, and that Kay really has been engaged, somehow, to assist with some sort of film that will somehow involves Steven Spielberg, however remotely.
