First Images From Sci-Fi Fantasy Upside Down

I’ve been tracking Juan Solanos’ film Upside Down for some time now, and have some tracking still to do before it completes post production and reaches screens in late 2011, perhaps 2012. Our first images from the film have arrived now, however, as a nice, early tease.

The film’s premise is a variant on the Romeo and Juliet pattern, with the lovers in this case coming from different worlds that are suspended close to one another, sky-to-sky, one up, one down.

You can see Kirsten Dunst dancing on the ceiling in these two snaps. There’s no sign of co-star Jim Sturgess however, and I’ve got no clue who that is Ms. Dunst is dancing with.

Note the green areas in each shot, where we’ll no doubt be seeing some upsidey downy FX of some kind. Upwards running water or some other flagrant gravity defiance, perhaps? Or maybe simple set extensions that reveal the two worlds together.

The images come from L’Express (via Into The Screen and io9)
