Caught in the international dragnet of Aint It Cool readers was a story from the Abuquerque Journal. Ostensibly announcing that The Avengers will be shot in New Mexico – at least in part – the article also contained one particularly intriguing, unexpected statement:
The Avengers script will blend Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger story lines as the Avengers battle with two alien races, the Skrulls and the Kree.
Oh. Really now.
It’s not clear to me if this is a Heather Morris situation, in which the journalist may be repackaging a rumour they heard someplace, or if they were actually told something by Marvel sources and spilled it. Your guess is as good as mine. For the record, I’m guessing speculation, guesswork or even flat-out invention.
All I know for sure on the Avengers‘ villain front is that Tom Hiddleston’s Loki will make at least a fleeting appearance. He’s given me a non-denial denial right to my face, and seemed to be screaming out “I’m in!” with every cell of his body.
But beyond that, it’s guesswork.
