At Kapow in London, during the Avengers Vs X-Men panel with Kieron Gillen, CB Cebulski and Joe Quesada, they showed off some upcoming Avengers Vs X-Men pages… one of which seems to show a certain Professor X returning for issue 6… We also got a teaser that Illyana and Black Widow will star in an…
One question asked at the DC panel today at the Kapow comic convention in London, was about DC co-publisher Dan DiDio’s interview with The Advocate. Specifically over the decision not to change any character’s sexual orientation when relaunching the DC Universe. At the time Dan stated they would introduce new LGBT characters rather than switch…
At Kapow’s Image Comics panel this morning, with Eric Stephenson, Nick Spencer and Bryan Hitch, Jonathan Ross stated that he had plans to launch a comic book podcast, because of his contacts in media and comics. He also talked about planning new comic books with current collaborators Bryan Hitch and Tommy Lee Edwards but also…
Warren Ellis has been talking plenty at Kapow, in London today. Lots of questions, lots of answers, lots of laughs, an unlit cigarette and a can or three of Red Bull. Amongst the jollity, he talked more about Gun Machine, his upcoming novel. That it is centred on a cop who discovers an apartment full…
“There is nothing to fear but fear” – Sir Francis Bacon
“There is nothing to fear but fear itself” – Franklin Roosevelt
“Whatever knows fear burns at the touch of the Man Thing” – Stan Lee, Roy Thomas, and Gerry Conway
Fear Itself by Matt Fraction, Stuart Immonen, Wade Von Grawbadger & Laura Martin is the big new Marvel event thingy. Probably with squiddy robots.
Farhan Sohail reports from Midtown Comics in Times Square, New York for Bleeding Cool;
At the Marvel announcement present are Joe Quesda, Tom Brevoort & Alex Alonso. The Event itself is called “Fear Itself”and will be the next summer event. Somewhat like Secret Invasion & will impact many marvel titles. The 8 most worthy heroes will be announced who will face “The God of Fear”. Special Guest Matt Fraction was here via video conference. Matt Fraction & Stuart Imonem are the principal creators.
Tom Brevoort: Fear Itself is 7 titles which kick offs in April. A secret at the heart of the Marvel universe will change the way marvel heroes look at each other and once free will affect everything for hundreds of years
It’s all about the Marvel Universe being… afraid! Full of despair! Grim ‘n’ gritty is back! “Who will be the eight most worthy on the planet?” I’m guessing I’m not one of them. “The Marvel heroes vs the God of Fear”. Will Stephen Colbert worship him?
A prologue by Ed Brubaker & Scot Eaton in March featuring Captain America and the Invaders in World War II, gig oversized one shot, with Fear Itself in April, seven issues for seven months (though note they don;t say which months!)… “There is a concealed act at the heart of the Marvel Universe that once revealed will change everything.” I’m guessing it’s rescuing a kitten from a tree. New books, new takes on titles, the Frontline spinoff projects and the like, and the big Marvel comics event is back.
The only thing to fear… is the $3.99 price point. Though the first issue will be oversized. And we do like Joe’s Mickey Mouse shirt.
Today at Kapow, DC announced that they would be taking an existing character and rebooting them as a very prominent gay DC character. I wonder if Kapow cosplayers beat them to it? There was alos a lot of Cosplay gone right though, as the cosplay competition hit the Kapow stage… Thanks to Chris Metcalfe for…

At Kapow in London this morning, DC co-publisher Dan DiDio clarified the company’s publishing schedule, by numbers at least. He confirmed that the company will stick to publishing fifty-two ongoing titles in the DC Universe but they will always be “new” and constantly refreshing. So, basically, we can look forward to September and those zero…
