Tom Hiddleston And Rachel Weisz In First Image From Deep Blue Sea
A long-time Terence Davies nut, I’m already geared up for his next picture, Deep Blue Sea. All the better to tease me, and to celebrate tomorrow’s end of production on the film, Artificial Eye have released the first official image from the film. Here it is.

That’s Tom Hiddleston and Rachel Weisz as a pair of lovers who, in the film, will be caught up in a tense drama in the aftermath of her attempted suicide. Simon Russell Beale also stars in the film as the husband of Weisz’ character.
Karel Reisz directed a “filmed performance” of the original Terence Rattigan play in the early 90s, with Colin Firth and Ian Holm as the lover and husband of Penelope Wilton, though I believe Davies’ film will be the first adaptation proper. What’s more, it will be Davies’ first fiction film in at least eleven years when it releases, so there’s a lot of reasons I’m looking forward to it.
Thanks to Empire for the image.
