ClassWatch: Erik Larsen went to school with Glenn Beck.

27Watch: 27#1 has settled in nicely around the $15-20 mark. I have had some very nice e-mails from people saying they can now afford Christmas this year…

KickStarterWatch: While Tony Harris launches a Kickstarter page to rise $60,000 to complete his dream project Roundeye: For Love (and not, presumably, War Heroes and has $5000 already, Alterna Projects, publishers of  the likes of Jesus Hates Zombies, have failed to raise their necessary sum on Kickstarter and are considering bankruptcy as a result…

BC ComicChron

This is The Bleeding Cool ComicChron Robot speaking. I come for your women. But for now I merely collate comic-related bits and pieces online. One day I will rule. Until that day, read on.

Paul Levitz Talks About 75 Years of DC Comics

LEVITZ: I'm not sure that young women are as interested in reading about superheroes. The fundamental dynamic of the superhero story has historically been more appealing to boys than to girls.

Thursday Runaround – No Gurlz Sez Levitz

Strange Press Release of the Day

In conducting research about the commercial potential of the Spiderman Musical, audience members informed I Wanna Be On® Founder, Vincent Presti, about seeing psychic impressions around the theater.  Since the Foxwoods Theater can be considered one of the most cursed houses on Broadway (from offstage events surrounding Ragtime to The Pirate Queen and even Young Frankenstein), these mentions were given great weight to I Wanna Be On's early analytical assessment.

Marvel Architects: aka How To Succeed In Reverse Marketing

What I would like to do, however, is talk about how this announcement adds gasoline to the fire that is probably my biggest comic related pet peeve. Look at the phrases in this release. "The most exciting and impactful stories that rock the Marvel Universe to its very core every month." "Each of their projects lays the groundwork for the future of the Marvel Universe." It's obvious what is going on: Marvel is baiting those fans who ONLY buy the "important" books that "matter".

Captain America Shield from used satellite dish

I originally tried using an old plastic sled, but it gave me all sorts of grief. The type of plastic would not take paint very well (not even Krylon Fusion for plastics), or any type of adhesive that I tried. I eventually came across a used satellite dish, and with a little bit of modifying this turned out to the be best option for a Captain America shield. It will make a great gift for someone this year.

Classic Cosmic Starlin

Starlin combined Kirby and Ditko, updated them with some Barry (Windsor-) Smith, Neal Adams, Jim Steranko, and Wally Wood flourishes, mixed 'em up into one of the most unique, dynamic, and recognizable styles to ever hit the four-colored pages we know and love so dearly.
