SCOOP: Matthew McConaughey Lined Up To Star In Killer Joe

No sooner do I mention William Friedkin’s plans to film Killer Joe, an adaptaton of Tracy Letts’ first play, then one of our beloved Little Bleeders gets in touch to pass on some encouraging information.
According to them (and they should know), Friedkin has cued up Matthew McConaughey for a role. This will make a change from McConaughey just paying his bongo-bills with rom-com paydays and charming southerner smile-a-thons.
It makes sense that McConaughey would be cast in the part of Ansel, the father of a trailer-dwelling family contemplating murder. From what I’ve read, the character seems to fit him well: most often too stoned to get off of the couch, wearing the same underwear for days in a row – and not much else. Yeah. He could really ace that role.
Seriously? I’d love to see McConaughey get this boost and do something really exciting again. Watch this space for more.
