Coming Up In Sherlock Holmes 2 – Moriarty, Mycroft And Noomi Rapace
Noomi Rapace has been taking meetings around Hollywood with an eye on netting some high-paying roles in studio pictures. The first fruit of these negotiations may have been revealed earlier in the week, and now we also know that she’s taking the lead female role in Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes 2.
Well, The Hollywood Reporter are calling it the lead female role. We’ve heard that Rachel McAdams is coming back for another go around, but not that she was being relegated to second fiddle. The casting story shares a rumour that Rapace’s role is that of a French Gypsy.
The production is gearing up at Elstree now, with prop maker Brian Muir mentioning on his Facebook wall that he’s enjoying his work on the film. Sounds like the cameras should be rolling pretty soon.
There are two new main roles for male leads to be filled: Holmes’ nemesis Moriarty, and his brother, Mycroft.
I can’t see Ritchie taking a play out of the BBC playbook and going for a camp Irishman in the Moriarty role. Well, unless you count the oft-rumoured Daniel Day Lewis. And I’m sure this Mycroft will not only be smarter than Holmes, he’ll be better at beating people up.
