After Clint – Mark Millar's Plan To Revitalise The British Comic Book Industry

The first issue is still hot on the stands in the UK, the second isue will be published before the month is out, but this is only the beginning for Mark Millar. He writes;

I'm in this to win it, not fail and so using every trick at making this work where everything since 2000 has died. If this works I'll go wider again with a range of books. I have a good idea for a girls comic that aims a little younger and another couple of things. My dream plan is to completely revamp the UK scene in the long run and make sure it has as many jobs and as many readers as it had a generation ago.

It's worth pointing out that Viz Comic came out after 2000AD and still does rather well. And there is a thriving British comics scene, with more children's comics being published now than ever before – albeit licensed and seemingly concentrate on free gifts than the comic strips within. The DFC was an exception, but one that fared poorly.

The girls' comic in the UK is a much missed genre, where the likes of everyone from Pat Mills to Paul Grist honed their skills, and made for a femal comics reading generation that were seemingly abandoned.
