BC ComicChron: Recent Updates From The Front Line Of Your Inevitable Doom

This is The Bleeding Cool ComicChron Robot speaking. I come for your women. But for now I merely collate comic-related bits and pieces online. One day I will rule. Until that day, read on.

They say I am a work in progress. The fools.

Comic Book Piracy, Jim Lee In Egypt, And Paris Hilton In Today's Twitter Report

Piracy pt. 1: @ErikJLarsen Maybe I'm cynical–but when I listened to Mark Waid what I heard was "I want to download pirated silver age DC stuff. You cool, with that?"

Piracy pt. 2: @MarkWaid @ErikJLarsen You characterized my entire speech as "Sounds like Mark Waid just wants to pirate comics." Doesn't strike me as "open."

Brian Wood talks DMZ, Northlanders, the return of Jennie 2.5 and more | Robot 6 @ Comic Book Resources – Covering Comic Book News and Entertainment

So let's forget I said that and instead I'll lie and say that today I started the first issue of the final year of DMZ. I'll probably actually start on that tomorrow. I've also been on a real tear recently with coming up with new ideas and pitches, for some reason. I have that fear that all of us have at one point or another, which is the fear of not having another good idea ever again, the fear of not being able to create something to follow a current critical success

Natecosboom | FOUR GODDAMN QUESTIONS WITH TOM BREVOORT.

I'm a simple man, with simple burger needs. Bun, burger, cheese (American, most typically), possibly a squirt of ketchup, and that's about it. Depending on how flavorful the meat is, might not even need the ketchup.

Marvel Comics gives a superhero cancer in 'One Month to Live' – USATODAY.com

Dennis Sykes is not having a great time in his life, with emotional turbulence at home and at work, when a fateful encounter with criminals —and some biowaste — while playing Good Samaritan changes his life. After being saved by the Thing and receiving some care from Mr. Fantastic, Dennis learns that he has the ability to manipulate matter. Naturally, it's ridiculously cool, and he has to figure out whether he wants to work on the side of saints or sinners with it. However, it also comes at a high price when his newfound powers mutate a pre-existing cancer.

The Great Debate: Bruce Wayne vs. Dick Grayson

DiDio makes it sound like Bruce Wayne woke up one morning and suddenly realized he's a billionaire. Except, he's been ridiculously wealthy all along. Bruce Wayne flashes his wealth when necessary, has a high tech armory and all of a sudden he's looking at being Batman as a business opportunity? This is not Batman; this is a perversion of what Batman stands for.

Becker versus the Comics Code, Bryan Caplan | EconLog | Library of Economics and Liberty

In the direct market, breaking the Comics Code with titles like Wolverine actually became a plus: "The cover (and the series) might have caused controversy if it were sold at newsstands, where parents passing by still believed comics were children's fare.  In the direct market, it was a hit." (Iron Age)

So why did the Beckerian segregation mechanism take decades to work?  Kids seem to have been the key friction.  When kids like a product and their parents don't, setting up specialty stores doesn't work very well.  The kids don't just depend on their parents for money; they need them for transportation!  Once the adult fanboy market hit critical mass, though, market forces cut loose, just as Becker would have expected.

Superman/Batman: Apocalypse to Premiere in LA and NY | Superhero Hype

Warner Home Video, UGO.com and The Paley Center for Media proudly present the bi-coastal World Premieres of Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, the highly anticipated next entry in the ongoing series of DC Universe Animated Original PG-13 Movies, in Los Angeles on September 21 and New York on September 23. Filmmakers and members of the voice cast will attend both events for red carpet media interviews and post-screening panel discussions.

Wagner on "Green Hornet: Year One" – Comic Book Resources

My goal with this series was to define the origins of the Hornet and Kato rather than re-define the scenario. When I really started to approach this series, I realized that there wasn't really an established origin to this seminal crime-fighting team. Unlike The Lone Ranger, who was also created by radio dramatists Fran Striker and George Trundle and had a very specific origin tale, the earliest Hornet shows simply outlined the narrative set-up at the beginning of each episode but didn't cover the actual formation of Britt and Kato's crusade against crime, much less their motivations. I was seeking to provide these answers while still playing this whole thing pretty straight.

Diggle illuminates "Shadowland" – Comic Book Resources

Readers of "Daredevil" and "Shadowland" know that it's not just unfortunate events that transformed Murdock into the ruthless and fanatical vigilante he now is. A secret cabal within the Hand called Snakeroot is also working to turn the Man Without Fear to the dark side, although exactly how they do so remains a mystery. "I'm aware that Matt is making some radical and very dangerous decisions. It seems on the surface to be out of character, but there's a specific reason for it," Diggle said. "That reason is one of the big revelations in 'Shadowland' #3."

Bruce Campbell on the horror franchise that launched his career: 'All roads lead to "Evil Dead" ' | Hero Complex | Los Angeles Times

We always get ragged on that we put out 18 versions of "Evil Dead" and "Army of Darkness." At the end of the day, the three of us — me and Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi — we're not business tycoons. If people keep bitching and moaning about something new and different, we give it to them. That's the bottom line.

"That show is going to be a big f—ing hit," he told NBC Washington blog PopcornBiz at HBO's post-Emmy party. "I've seen it and it is fan-f—ing-tastic."
