Tuesday Rushes – Who, Chewbacca, Fantasia, Futurama

I’m fighting a raging sinus infection and attendant toothache at the moment, but I want to try and catch up with a series of Rushes posts. Bear with me for a little while as I heal and try to get back to standing up straight.

Beauty and the Beast 3D may be on ice, but Sing-a-Long-a-Beauty and the Beast is coming to a cinema near you. At least if you are near one of the cinemas that Fathom Events have booked for screenings on 29th September and 2nd October. Put your Zip into their page to find where you can go and unleash your inner Beast. Or Belle. (Found via Laughing Place).

The rumoured Wii and DS Doctor Who games have been formally announced. MCV:

Published and developed by Asylum Entertainment, two separate titles are in the works – Doctor Who: Return to Earth on Wii and Doctor Who: Evacuation Earth for DS. Both will feature the likenesses of both Matt Smith (the current Doctor) and Karen Gillen (his companion Amy Pond).

According to the wires, Ricky Gervais would like to make another film, and that film may be a big screen spin-off of Life’s Too Short, his upcoming TV show in which Warwick Davis will play Warwick Davis. Think Curb Your Enthusiasm but only one half as good tall.

The Creative Arts Emmys have happened. Here are some of my favourite winners:

  • Old Spice ad The Man Your Man Could Smell Like won Outstanding Commercial
  • Randy Newman won Original Music and Lyrics for the song When I’m Gone, from the final episode of Monk
  • Anne Hathaway won Outstanding Voice Over Performance for an episode of The Simpsons
  • Disney’s Prep & Landing won four awards – and deservedly so, it was great
  • The Colbert Report won Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special

The Stig is a sometime James Bond stunt driver called Ben Collins, report The Daily Mail.

Both Fantasia films are coming to Blu-ray before Xmas. Here’s a look at their cover designs, courtesy of a Little Bleeder with Mickey Ears:

Last week’s Futurama saw Keen Keeler, series writer and maths PhD create and solve a new maths theorem. Futurama fansite The Infosphere published this screen grab and a great explanation:

Disney have purchased a pitch from Ahmet Zappa and Michael Wilson. Monster Witness Relocation Program is to be developed as a starring vehicle for Jaden Smith, say Deadline. That title, writing team and potential casting are all we have to go on so far, which will likely foster some dismissive prejudice.

More later.
