Warren Ellis Returns To Osborn With Back-Up Strip

Warren Ellis arguably reinvented Norman Osborn into the character who would become so ubiquitous in the Marvel Universe. After the character returned at the end of the Clone Saga, he wasn't used too much. Warren Ellis made him the head of a new government superteam made up of super-villains, from Venom to Bullseye in Thunderbolts.

Grabbed by Brian Bendis to become a significant part in the conclusion of the Secret Invasion, he then headed up Dark Avengers. Promoted to the most powerful security post in government, he instigated measures that led to Dark Reign and Siege. Indeed, for a time, Norman Osborn seemed to be the bad guy in every Marvel comic book, condemning the character in the minds of many by pure ubiquity.

But now in jail for his part in recent events, Marvel are launching a new series, Osborn, written by Kelly Sue DeConnick, who used to be a very familiar face on the Warren Ellis Forum back in the day. And Warren Ellis has now joined her on the book, returning to Norman Osborn, and writing a back up episode that many will hope will be an endcap to his still-admired run on Thunderbolts.

Which should give even the most over-exposed-to-Osborn Marvel readers a good reason to check it out…
