Rob Liefeld Chips In On Green Lantern Vs. Deadpool Battle

Before we talk it over, let’s run some tweets from Rob Liefield in chronological order and see what story they tell:

Warner Bros. just trying to protect their investment. They don’t want Ryan Reynolds playing Deadpool AND Green Lantern. Interesting 2 watch

Please direct Deadpool @RobertRdz !!!!! I’m not above begging! Thanks!

Bottom line about Deadpool film is that if FOX doesn’t pull the DP film together with Ryan Reynolds between GL films-they should Hari Kari

Ryan Reynolds is the new Will Smith, if FOX can’t maximize this window of opportunity with this star, this character, that script=MASSV FAIL

You have it reversed @GeekTyrant it’s Warners that wants to film back 2 back GL’s and disrupt Deadpool. Not FOX!! Get it right!

Liefield certainly seems to be supporting our previous scoop about a trilogy of Green Lantern pictures with installments being filmed close to one another, if not back-to-back. Of course, for all we know, Bleeding Cool could be the original source there and he’s not consolidating our report, just repeating it.

Regarding Deadpool, however, I’m convinced he has some inside information – he did co-create the character after all. That little fact also underlines his interest here, in not wanting Warners’ big Green Lantern machine to steamroller Fox’s proposed movie for the “merc with a mouth”.

It’s definitely encouraging to hear him talk so kindly of the film’s screenplay, and I’m happy he’s happy with the film’s (most likely) director, Robert Rodriguez.

If Liefield does have an inside view, the picture of backstage rivalry that he’s painting is like a panel from Spy vs. Spy, with Warners and Fox in competition for a superhero shaped, Reynolds-handsome maguffin. And  - of course –  the millions of dollars he’d help bring in at the box office.

Liefield is right. It is interesting to watch. Next installment please! And make it a good one.

Re: the image at the head of the post – My apologies to colourblind readers who also happen to have limited knowledge of comic book characters. I did at least choose a picture in which he’s actually holding a lantern, just to make it a little easier for you.
