Terry Gilliam’s Next Film Shoots On August 5th… But It Isn’t Quixote
We’ll get the little bit of Man Who Killed Don Quixote news out of the way first. Robert Duvall, the man who will play Don Quixote, has given an interview to The New York Times. They asked him about that picture, another with James Caan and also a Billy Bob Thornton-written drama set in the aftermath of World War 2, and he said:
These are some terrific roles,” he said. “I want these projects to get off the ground.”
Does that mean that Quixote won’t be going before cameras in September as planned? Not necessarily. Duvall’s been around enough to know how last-minute some green lights can be. I’ll dig into this and see what I can find out…
But what is this film Gilliam starts shooting on August 5th? Here’s a clue: he’ll stop shooting it on August 5th too.
The Associated Press have a report that The Arcade Fire have recruited Gilliam to direct a live broadcast of their concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden. To what extent he’ll be involved in the staging of the show isn’t clear – he may just be “camera directing” as it were.
The broadcast, or perhaps more properly stream, of the concert will take place on YouTube. Will they then archive it and make it always available? I would sincerely hope so.
The page for the concert is already up and running. And, here at least, bookmarked.
