Second Longer Trailer For Let Me In, Report On Comic-Con Footage

Here’s another chance for Matt Reeves’ Let Me In to win over the sceptical, with a second, longer trailer that shows off a few more characters, scenes and locations and more of Greig Fraser’s wonderful cinematography.

Let the Right One In was so beloved, it feels like every new piece of marketing for Let Me In is a swing point for the “remake” – will it attract more people, or will it convince more people that this is an unnecessary do-over, if not flat-out blasphemy?

Personally, I’m thinking it looks really rather strong with a great cast and wonderful cinematography. Will it be as good as Alfredson’s film? Likely not, but I bet it has considerable strengths all of its own.

Some extended footage was shown at Comic-Con. First up was the scene in which Abby asks Owen (those are their names now) if he’d still like her if she wasn’t a girl; next, a scene in which Abby’s “caretaker”, played by Richard Jenkins, hunts down a victim. This was the real show stopper, and not least because it was completely and utterly different from anything in the Swedish film.

I don’t want to give too much away, but there’s footage from this second scene in the trailer – see around the 1:05 mark, where somebody sits up in the back of a car with a bag on their head. Then at the end of the scene came a rather novel shot of a car crash that had many of the people in Hall H stunned and open-mouthed.
