I can’t see the trailer for the new Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8 Motion Comic.
It’s only because I’m an Englishman, and iTunes won’t let my country near it. None of “you Americans” have stolen it and posted it to YouTube helped the valiant promotional effort by sharing it on region-free turf quite yet, but I look forward to when you do.
In the meantime, I’d like one of you to download it, describe it and mail that description to me so I can include it in this post. Heck – let’s make this a competition. I don’t know what you’ll win, but I’ll think of something. I might even include multiple descriptions that forum users can vote on or something.
Because, you know, if I don’t… there’s not much of a story here, is there?
UPDATE: Here’s our one description so far, courtesy of puppetDoug.
It opens with the opening lines from the Season 8 comics, “The thing about changing the world is, once you do, the world’s all…different,” while showing actual footage from the series finale of the show. Then, the shot of the hellmouth crater fades into Georges Jeanty’s artistic representation as the sign falls into the crater and a drawn helicopter flies overhead. The 20th Century Fox logo appears, followed by Dark Horse and Mutant Enemy’s respective logos.
The Buffy TV show logo appears, followed by various action shots from “The Long Way Home” in motion.
A narrator says: “With Sunnydale gone and the slayers numbering almost two thousand, Buffy, Xander and the gang must take the fight around the world to face an elusive new enemy intent on taking the slayer population to zero.”
Words appear on-screen: “Where the TV Show Ends…”
Twilight says, “It all ends really soon.”
More Words: “The new adventure begins.”
Buffy says, “I think these boys were looking for a fight.”
Then the Nerf Herder theme starts, with lots of motion comic explosions and punches to the face. I haven’t looked at any motion comics since the Astonishing X-men one, but it looks slightly better done, animation-wise. The Buffy logo comes up in red, with “Season Eight” written beneath it. We then get a classic group shot and Buffy saying, “This is war.”
Words: “Joss Whedon’s critically acclaimed Season Eight comes to life. Available now for digital download.”
