New Social Network Trailer… Real Or Fan Made? – UPDATED – Sony Pulled It, But It’s Back

I’m not sure if this second trailer for David Fincher’s The Social Network is a Sony sanctioned release or a piece of fan video that somebody made just because they could. I hope it’s the latter – and not because it’s bad, it isn’t really, but because that shows ingenuity and spark – not to mention attention to detail and perseverance. I don’t think a copyright statement on the clip’s YouTube page is by any means proof of anything.

The Playlist are treating the trailer as though it’s official, but reveal no hint of its provenance (maybe it’s made by a friend of theirs, and they’re trying to propagate it more efficiently?). They also see a Twitter vibe in the design, but I’d say it’s every bit as much a Facebook one – the colour scheme and direction of updates are more Facebook than Twitter to my eye, anyway.

UPDATE: It looks like my suspicions were correct that this was a fan trailer, seeing as it’s now been pulled from YouTube over a legal claim by Sony. There’s an outside chance it was a leaked version of a trailer Sony planned to launch later, but I don’t think so. Drat, though – I didn’t save it before it was too late.

UPDATE AGAIN: Who needs YouTube when there’s Little Bleeders being oh-so-helpful in the forum?
