Latest Mutant In First Class Frame Is Willow – But Isn’t She From The Future?

You say ‘mutant’ and ‘Willow’ to me in the same sentence and I think you’re making a politically incorrect quip about Warwick Davis. Thankfully, however, I’ve got Rich on hand to explain who the character is to me. He says:
Future shapeshifter from X-Nation 2099. Basically a less blue Mystique but her facial markings stay even when she shape shifts.
Why it’s an issue at all is that Willow appears to be one of the mutants set for a part in Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men First Class movie. We know so because surfer Erica Hosseini has been up for an audition for the role and told Maarten Bouw (via SHH) about it.
I was auditioning for a role named Willow (hopefully I don’t get in trouble for blabbing details on the off-chance that I get it). It’s a role similar to Mystique from what I understand. Potentially lots of body paint, so that would be really fun.
Yeah, I know a lot of people who’d think that sounds like fun.
Hosseini had tweeted about the audition back on June 26th, but at the time only knew Willow as “a new mutant character.”
So, given that Willow is from the future, as per Rich, then it seems like Vaughn and screenwriter Jane Goldman are playing pretty darn fast and loose with continuities, pulling in characters they fancy from, here there and everywhere. Unless, of course, the Willow name was a cover story and they’re casting a young Mystique? Long shot, but not impossible and both, I’d expect are far more likely than some kind of time travel storyline… right?
