And Now a Rango Trailer That Actually Feels Like a Trailer

With those floppy arms, big ball eyes, uncommon skin colour,  run-around Wahhhhhhhhhh! and comedy gulp, Johnny Depp’s latest star turn sure has a touch of the Kermit about him. Second rate Kermit, of course, but Kermit none the less.

Director Gore Verbinski apparently eschewed performance capture for key-frame animation for Rango, yet still filmed a live action black-box theatre version of the film in order to record the voice tracks. Interesting call. Not sure we can see the benefit in these clips, however.

The first “real” trailer for the film is currently exclusive at Empire, though I’ll embed it here as soon as possible…

And I’m still intrigued by that floating fish from the pre-teaser non-trailer. It’s like Arizona Dream all over again.
