Wednesday Runaround – Avengers Resemble

Wednesday Runaround – Avengers ResembleMembershipWatch: So who else got one of these? And who else is going to run run run run to their comic shop to see their little face appear in Avengers #1. Not me, it seems. I was not deemed Avengers-worthy. They may have used their psychological profiling on me I suppose. Look, I was only joking about wanting to take over the world. I didn't mean it really…

Wednesday Runaround – Avengers ResembleCosPlayWatch: Check out this feature on the making of a very special War Machine cosplay costume, with fully working visor and non-actually-fully working shoulder mounted machine gun thing. Cost a cool $4000 to put together.

Le, a fitness consultant, studied some concept sketches of the suit posted on the Internet. He used thin, high-impact urethane for the armor, cutting it into plates and joining them with some 1,500 rivets and washers. He sculpted a clay helmet mold and then used a liquid resin mix to create the final product. But that was just cosmetic work. He also added a small servo motor that opens the faceplate, as in the movie, and built a gun out of pipes and a motor. LEDs in the eyes and chest-plate further add to the illusion.

But despite such an impressive suit, he doesn't have a great following among other costume builders, refusing to share many of his methods and being a bit of a cock about it. Leading to a Mythbusters forum thread that went a little… odd. And had Adam Savage come down to knock him down a peg or two

This is the costume winning first prize at Starfest earlier in the year.

MovieWatch: The Stephen Frears movie based on Posy Simmonds' Tamara Drewe hit Cannes yesterday. Here are a couple of clips;

AndFinally: Did DC Comics really kill of Ryan Choi and cut the CMX line dead during Asian American month?
