| The first Saturday in May is the annual Free Comic Book Day. Everyone who comes by Charlie’s Comic Books may pick FOUR (4) free comic books each. There will be a large selection to choose from, the largest selection in the Southwest. There will also be many comic book creators on hand to debut their latest works and some of the artists will offer free sketches.
The wonderful folks from Evil Robo who publish ‘Ash-Tray’ comics will be here: Eric Schock, Taylor & Brittany Garrity and Zip Howard. The first trade paperback collecting all of the adventures of the Bald Avenger is now available at www.EvilRobo.com and they will have a limited edition ash can available featuring a preview of the next issue that will debut at the Tucson Comic Con. Jon Chihak of Anti-Hero Press will attend with an ashcan of the soon to be released ‘Fuzzy Face’ graphic novel co-written by Venus O’Necro as well as past issues of the ‘Youth in Asia’ series. Jon will also have three different prints for sale and all sales of these will benefit Emerge. Ernest Romero will attend with issues of his ‘Breed’ series as well as preview material of the comic he is illustrating for the Girl Scouts of America. That project features material written by Henry Barajas, who will also be on hand for autographs (but don’t ask him for a sketch; he can’t draw). A newcomer to the field of comic creators, local author Roger Penrose, artist Kim Colman and post production man Marcus Lee will unveil ‘Millions of Screaming Yahoos’ volume one of six, a 52-page comic.
